Nova Scotia seeks to acquire shuttered Bowater Mersey mill from Resolute for high-tech fossil fuel alternatives [From the web]

HALIFAX, NS, Nov. 14, 2012 (Chronicleherald.ca) - The province is negotiating exclusively with Resolute Forest Products Inc. to acquire most of the assets of the shuttered Bowater Mersey Paper Co. Ltd.

The deal would allow the Montreal company to make good on pensions for more than 500 former workers at the Brooklyn, Queens County, plant, and could be inked before the end of the year, said a source familiar with the negotiations.
