RISI VIEWPOINT: US ships nearly 2 million tonnes of pellets in 2012

BEDFORD, MA, Feb. 14, 2013 (Viewpoint) - By Seth Walker, Associate Economist, Bioenergy

Last year, the North American wood pellet industry set new records for shipments. US wood pellet producers exported 1.96 million tonnes of pellets in 2012, a 52% increase from 2011. North of the border, Canadian pellet exports were 1.4 million tonnes, only 5.7% higher than the 1.3 million tonnes exported in 2011.
